Me, Myself and AI

One morning, I opened my blog and noticed that indeed, AI had taken over yet another part of my existence. I was both excited and appalled in equal measures when I looked through all of the things that my new AI blog assistant could help me with. Having trouble thinking of a good blog title? No problem, your AI assistant will help! (And no, I came up with my own, thank you very much). Need some inspiration on blog subjects? Sure, here is a list of everything you've mentioned in the last 10 years!

Ok, great. My inner ADHD perfectionist is silently doing cartwheels with joy. My head is rejoicing at the thought of good tips and pointers on how to make myself more visible on the internet. My heart, however, is sitting in a corner crying into a tissue when I notice the " AI Content Generator" button. Oh dear Lord, this feels like signing a contract with the devil. Firstly, I will never use AI to generate blog content. Rightly or wrongly, my integrity would be at stake here. Did I really wait 40 years of my life salivating at the mouth to write my own blog and then, hit a Generate button and.....thumbs twiddling...

My question here is - what happened to authenticity? And will writers forgo theirs in favour of "getting the job done"? What does this mean for our expressed thoughts, visions, desires - will they just be a more polished version of what we seek to communicate, or will our quirky, jumbled yet unique penned art be lost in a sea of monotonous dribble? Perhaps this is something only time can fathom, because it is a new chapter for humankind (you may argue that AI has been around for a long time, but, quite like this?).

I will fight the whisper in my ear that this would make anything I write more palatable...that my university professor from twenty years ago would once again nudge me and say "your writing doesn't cut it - take the help!".

No. I am the proud founder of the Flaming Heart Society, and I wear my flaming heart pendant around my neck as a reminder to remain authentic at all times; in all the colours of the rainbow that this may likely produce. With AI on the cusp of taking over the world, there could and will never be a better time than to live, breathe and write with true authenticity.
